AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS FALL 2013
We hope everyone had a wonderful summer!  We are looking forward to enhancing this semester with clubs that our kids will enjoy.  We will accept registration immediately.  Please send in your choices as soon as possible because class size is limited.  We usually have a very enthusiastic response so don’t miss out.  Deadline for registration is Tuesday September 17th.  Send completed forms and checks payable to HANC PTA to Shani Herschberg at 230 Bedell Terrace in West Hempstead.  Please contact Shani Herschberg at 481-9309,  shani.herschberg@gmail.com or Shari Lowenthal at 486-8256 with any questions or comments.  DO NOT DROP OFF FORMS IN THE PTA MAILBOX!
Family discount:  Sign up for one club and get all additional (lower priced) clubs 10% off.
Clubs run from 4pm to 5pm, please be at the front door of the school by 5pm.  Children will not be released into the parking lot.
BECOME A PARENT VOLUNTEER AND YOUR CHILD GOES FREE OR AT A DISCOUNTED RATE.
Please only sign your children up for clubs they will enjoy.  Teachers will not force children to participate.  Children must adhere to the club rules and behave appropriately.
Note: After school mishmar for 3rd grade boys  will be on Mondays and for 4-6th grade (boys and girls) on Tuesdays.  E2K will be for 6th grade on Monday.
Mondays:  September 30, October 7, 21, 28, November 4, 18, 25, December 9, 16, 23, 30
Jumpbunch for boys and girls, grades K-2, $120
This club will be run by Coach Winkie of JumpBunch fame!  Every week, after a warm up and stretch, a new sport will be introduced, taught, and played.  Each child's ability is taken into account so everyone has fun, no matter the skill level.  Tee ball, soccer, lacrosse, football and hockey are just a few of the sports your child will play.  Coach Winkie brings all the equipment, enough for each child. 
Minimum of 10, maximum of 13

Yoga for girls, grades 3-6, $80
Coach Liana who taught our color guard club in the spring (did you see them in the Celebrate Israel parade?) is a certified yoga instructor and will be teaching our yoga club.   After a warm up, the girls will learn different poses and have a great workout.
Minimum of 8, maximum of 12

Crafting  for boys and girls, grades K-2, $80
We'll be making  2 and 3 dimensional crafts that illustrate some of our favorite stories, seasons and holidays using paper, wood, beads, fabric and yarn, a true multi-media experience.
Minimum of 8, maximum of 10



Tuesdays:  October 1, 8, 15, 22, 29, November 5, 12, 19, 26, December 3, 10, 17, 31
Soccer for boys and girls, grades K-2, $230 (this is for a 13 week program)
Due to its popularity and success last year, Soccer Shots is back to teach the fundamentals of soccer in his creative and fun filled program.  All children will receive a Soccer Shots tee shirt and certificate of participation.  A Soccer Shots representative will be coming to HANC to run a free clinic to introduce our kindergarteners to the program on September 11.
Minimum of 9, maximum of 13

Circus Arts for boys and girls, grades K-3, $100
Miss Mindy, a certified physical education teacher, will be teaching the children to juggle scarves, spin plates, balance feathers, throw and catch using team catchers and devil sticks.  Let Miss Mindy amaze you in this fun filled circus class.
Minimum of 8, maximum of 12

Chess, grades K-6, boys and girls, $70
Ted Lowenthal will be teaching chess again this year.  All children will play at their level.                       
Minimum of 6, maximum of 10
No class on December 31.

Thursdays:  October 3, 10, 17, 24, 31 November 7, 14, 21, December 5, 12, 19, 26, January 2
Baking for boys and girls, grades K-2, $80
Rachel Steinberg will be teaching our baking club again, where each child will be pouring, sifting, mixing and kneading a delicious and healthy treat each week.   Just try to save some till you get home!
Minimum of 6, maximum of 8

Sports for boys, grades 3-6, $80
Daniel Orenstein, a NYS certified physical education teacher who works in many NYC public schools, will be teaching this club.  Boys will participate in a variety of sports including basketball, hockey, football and soccer, among others.
Minimum of 10, maximum of 15.

Sculpting for boys and girls, grades 2-6, $200
Learn to sculpt using wire, wood, clay, aluminum, plastic, string and paper. We’ll mold, bend, twist, stretch, balance and even apply scientific concepts and mathematical methods while we design each three dimensional creation. Learn about flexible glass sculptures, busts, kinetic floating elements, Mexican tin art, and amazing artists while creating eight 3D sculptures that are dynamic, creative, and fun!  Teacher is NYS certified in art education.

Registration will be available at lice check, a separate check should be payable to HANC PTA.
