MANDATORY SCREENING FOR LICE AND NITS
FOR ECC AND 609 STUDENTS
Dear Parents,
Lice
are tiny bugs, but they have posed a big problem. Every school on Long
Island has had to deal with them and HANC is no different. Because our
children are our number one priority, HANC has joined with other area
yeshivot and public schools to enact a NO NITS POLICY.
A
NO NITS POLICY means that NO CHILD will be allowed into school unless
he or she has been checked IN THE SCHOOL, and is found to be free of
nits. A child who is found to have nits will not be allowed back into
school until he or she is first rechecked by the school nurse. The child
must return home if any nits are found during the recheck. Parents must
be prepared to take home any child found to have nits.
In
order to make this as easy as possible for our parents, we will be
hiring trained professionals to come to our school and screen students
on:
Tuesday, Sept. 2, 8:30-10:30 AM
and Wednesday, Sept. 3, 5-7 PM
HANC ECC - 240 Hempstead Avenue
There will be a ONE TIME CHARGE to help defray the cost of this service:
$10 per student (PTA member*)
$15 per student (non-PTA member)
*PTA Membership is $36
FOR YOUR CONVENIENCE
PAY BOTH MEMBERSHIP & LICE CHECK FEES
ONLINE VIA CREDIT CARD IN ADVANCE
Please
mark your calendars with the locations and times of the screenings.
Additional screenings will take place during regular school hours after
Sukkot, mid-winter recess and after Pesach at no additional charge.
Please try and wash your children's hair the night before a screening
takes place. This makes the checking process run smoother.
"An
ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure". Nothing shows this
better than last year's program, which checked over 500 children and
prevented a widespread infestation by careful checking and monitoring.
The
many parents who have had to struggle with this problem understand that
this screening spares all of our families much inconvenience and
expense.
Thank you for your cooperation,
Sincerely,
HANC PTA Lice Committee
